A first doesn’t come along often for an association that is 125 years old, but this year we had one! The Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association and the Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia decided to start a new tradition of Inter-City Matches. Joining the Junior Inter-City Matches and our original Inter-City Matches, we now have a senior competition. The tournament was played at LedgeRock Golf Club in Mohnton, PA. Our team consisted of 6 seniors and 2 super seniors. The team for WGAP was Angie Coleman (DuPont), AK Frazier (Gulph Mills), Liz Haines (Merion), Loraine Jones (Merion), Allison Long (Honeybrook), Lisa McGill (Sunnybrook), Melana Walker Regan (Philadelphia Cricket), and Suzi Spotleson (RiverCrest). The competition was close, but the WGAP team prevailed, winning 13.5 to 10.5. One of the highlights was a hole-in-one for Loraine Jones on the 2nd hole of the match (her 9th!).
