WGAP Juniors Successfully Defend Junior Inter-City Cup

WGAP sent a talented team of juniors up to Massachusetts for the annual Junior Inter-City Matches for the Enos Cup.  These matches are played against teams from The Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association and Mass Golf.  Our winning team from last year saw all but one player graduating a moving on to college golf.  Mary Dunigan (Kennett) was our lone veteran on the team, and was selected as the captain to lead our new group.  Joining Mary on the WGAP team was Rhianna Gooneratne (1912 Club), Mia Pace (Whitford), Silvana Gonzalez (Applecross), Emilee Barkley (Moselem Springs), and Lauren Patullo (Laurel Creek).

The team traveled to Great Barrington, Massachusetts to compete at Wyantenuck Country Club.  Tuesday, June 20 was the practice round, followed by individual three-way matches among the three golf associations on Wednesday, June 21.

Emilee Barkley led things off in the individual matches, taking on two of the toughest competitors from the other associations.  That paved the way for the rest of our players to earn enough points for a WGAP victory.  Mary Dunigan earned a perfect 6 points. Rhianna Gooneratne and Silvana Gonzalez each earned 5.5 points.  Lauren Patullo earned 4.5 and Mia Pace earned 4.  The total points for WGAP was 25.5, with Mass Golf right behind at 19.5.  WMGA had 9 points.

Congratulations to the WGAP team!
