The Silver Cross is awarded each year to the player with the lowest three round total when the qualifying from the Women’s Match Play Championship is combined with the two rounds of the Mary Thayer Farnum Cup. This year was a back and forth battle between Samantha Perrotta (Old York – Chesterfield) and Catherine Elliott-Powell (Merion). Perrotta came into the Farnum Cup with a three stroke lead. After day 1 of the Farnum, Elliott-Powell made up 4 shots, taking a 1 shot lead into the final round at North Hills. Perrotta finished the last day of the Farnum with 76, and Elliott-Powell with 77, leaving the 2 players tied with 231 for the Silver Cross.
The two will have a playoff at a neutral course (Union League at Torresdale – September 27, 9am).
