The 2016 Junior Girls’ Championship kicked off today at Yardley Country Club. Rylie Heflin, playing out of Hartefeld National, was the low junior qualifier with an impressive 76. Match play starts for the junior girls tomorrow.
In the Junior-Junior Division, Sunshine Gu, from Yardley Country Club, was low today with a 42. In second place was Emma Reilly (Commonwealth National) with a 49. These girls will play two more rounds of stroke play to determine the Junior-Junior Champion.
UPDATE from first day of matches – 7/20/16:
First round winners today in the Junior Division include Rylie Heflin (Hartefeld), Brianna Mahon (Manufacturers), Lily Yang (Penn Oaks), and Caitlin Mahon (Manufacturers). Semi-final matches start tomorrow at 8:00am. Heflin will face B. Mahon and Yang will play C. Mahon.
In the Junior-Junior division, Sunshine Gu (Yardley) followed up her 42 with a 43 today and Emma Reilly (Commonwealth) had a 61.
UPDATE from second day of matches – 7/21/16:
The finals are set. Rylie Heflin claimed a victory over Brianna Mahon today with a match results of 7 & 5. Brianna’s sister Caitlin Mahon beat Lily Yang in the second match, 3 & 2. The final round match will be tomorrow at 8am.
The Junior-Junior division finished up today with Sunshine Gu victorious. She shot a very impressive 35 to complete her three rounds. Emma Reilly was the runner-up with a 56 for her final nine.
UPDATE from the third day of matches – 7/22/16:
Our 2016 Junior Girls’ Champion is Rylie Heflin, from Hartefeld National. The final match took all 18 holes for Rylie to defeat Caitlin Mahon (Manufacturers Golf and Country Club). Rylie won 1 up. Congratulations to both girls for a tremendous week of golf! Click here to view the final bracket.
