Dorothy Germain Porter Tournament
The Dorothy Germain Porter Tournament was started in 1984 after Dorothy Porter won the City Title for the ninth time. She was 68 years old! Dorothy was one of the most accomplished golfers ever. She won five USGA national championships, including the 1949 U.S. Women’s Amateur and the U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur four times.
Dorothy went on to serve as the captain of the U.S. Curtis Cup team for several years. She had the opportunity to be involved with the LPGA, but she opted to maintain amateur status and raise her family in South Jersey. Dorothy participated in twenty-nine of her own tournaments. She was a great competitor who was always gracious on the golf course. Dorothy loved the game and the way it brought people together.
The 2019 Dorothy Germain Porter Tournament will be played at Riverton Country Club on Thursday, September 12th. It will be a 9:00am shotgun start.
