Betsy King To Be Guest Speaker for WGAP End of Year Celebration Dinner

When you look back on women’s golf, there are few who have had a bigger impact on the community as Betsy King.  The Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia is so proud and honored to have Betsy as our guest speaker at our 2024 End of Year Celebration Dinner.  On her behalf, we are working to raise money for her charity, Golf Fore Africa.  Whether it be a one-time donation, or a season long fundraiser based on your pars or birdies, please consider getting involved for this great charity.

 

Betsy is originally from Reading, Pa. and is a 1977 graduate of Furman University.

She played on the LPGA Tour for 28 years and had 34 official wins including 6 Major Championships. Betsy was a 3 time Rolex Player of the year and 2 time Vare trophy winner (low scoring average) She also was a member of 5 US Solheim Cup teams and was the victorious captain in 2007. She is a member of the LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fames. She has received the 1994 Charles Bartlett Award from the Golf Writers Association for her unselfish contributions to the betterment of society.

 

Golf Fore Africa was started by Betsy in 2007 following a life changing trip to Africa in October 2006. Since its inception Golf Fore Africa has granted almost 17 million dollars to implementing partner World Vision, to bring clean water, improved sanitation, and hygiene education to children and families in Africa.
