For the 118th time, the 9-player teams from MassGolf, The Women’s Metropolitan Golf Association, and The Women’s Golf Association of Philadelphia met to compete in the Women’s Inter-City Matches. This year, the matches were played at Longmeadow Country Club in Longmeadow, Massachusetts.
Representing WGAP were Isabella DiLisio (Philadelphia Cricket), Catherine Elliott (Merion), Laura Hammond (Penn Oaks), Stephenie Harris (Huntingdon Valley), Lauren Jones (Merion), Samantha Perrotta (Philmont), Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley), Karen Siegel (Commonwealth), and Jessica Weikel (Huntingdon Valley). The team captain was Liz Haines (Merion) and Sue Harrigan, WGAP Vice President, also attended.
The first day is foursome (alternate shot) matches. MassGolf dominated, winning 18 points, with WMGA winning 14.5. WGAP had some ground to make up in day 2, only earning 3.5 points. The format for the second day is singles matches. Unfortunately, the deficit was too great to overcome in day 2 for WGAP, despite big wins by Jackie Rogowicz and Lauren Jones. MassGolf held on to their lead, winning the Cup with 51 points. WMGA finished second with 37.5 points, and WGAP had 19.5 points.
